Signalong training courses are a fantastic opportunity for students, education staff and corporate teams to learn how to sign. Steph Black Speech and Language Therapy offers a range of courses from one-off workshops to 8 week foundation courses.
Signalong is a sign system derived from British Sign Language. It is the only sign system taught to education staff in Guernsey and is widely used by children and adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.
The 8 week Signalong Foundation Training course is now available at the College of Further Education. The next course starts in September/October 2021 (6.30-8.30pm). Details on the course and how to apply can be found here (page 47).
Training is also available for local businesses and corportate teams. Half day workshops are a perfect way to find out more about Signalong and learn signs relevant to your place of work. Workshops start from as little as £30 per person (minimum 8 people) and the range of practical activities make them great for team building. Learning Signalong is particularly important for those in customer facing roles, and forcompanies that are aiming to be as inclusive and accessible as possible.
